On January 14, 2009, the currach was severely damaged in the surf at Boca Grande Pass. Numerous ribs were broken along with skin and structure damage. The currach was transported to the Darkwood Center where R.J. Malloy and his apprentices, working under the direction of master currach builder Padraic o Dunin, are restoring her to a sea worthy condition.

The first phase of the restoration was completed on September 11, 2009
